Welcome to Flow Myofunctional Therapy

Lets work together to identify and correct orofacial myofunctional impairments and dysfunction so you can FLOW through life as your best and healthiest self!

Common Questions about Myofunctional Therapy

Is myofunctional therapy effective?

Absolutely! But like most things in life, you get out what you put in. If you do the work that is assigned, you will see results. If you do less, you may not reach your therapy goals we set out to attain. If you do more than is assigned, you will have great results!

What happens during the Complimentary Assessment?

We meet live online for a 30 minute session. We hit the high points of your Discovery Paperwork and see if we are a good match. We discuss if moving forward with a Comprehensive Exam makes sense for you. I do not look in your mouth to identify a possible tongue-tie or other physical impairments during the assessment.

What happens during the Comprehensive Myofunctional Exam?

We meet live online for a 1 hour 30 minute session. Prior to the exam, you will send a series of photos and videos to help me better understand where we are starting from. We do a deeper dive into your Discovery Paperwork and photos, discussing in detail your symptoms and how they can be connected to orofacial myofunctional impairments. A functional assessment and breathing demonstration are performed. The comprehensive exam is where I gather all the information in order to write your therapy plan, should you accept an offer for a spot in therapy.

How much does therapy cost?

  • Comprehensive Exam is $125
  • Current therapy price packages can be found here.
  • Payment plans are available.
  • Discounts are available for families.

When is payment due?

Payment is due upon receipt of invoice, and prior to beginning therapy.

Do you take insurance?

I do not bill insurance companies, but I can provide you a superbill that you are welcome to submit to your insurance. Some insurance plans with out-of-network provider coverage will reimburse you for a portion of Myofunctional Therapy.

Can I use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Spending Account for therapy?

Yes, you can!

Can I pay per session?

I focus on full rehabilitation and want to see you through from start to finish to ensure I have done everything I can to support you on your wellness journey. For this reason, I only offer Phase 1 and Comprehensive Therapy packages.

How long does therapy last?

  • Comprehensive clients are seen over the period of 1 year in 18-20 sessions.
  • Phase 1 clients are seen over the period of 6 months in 10-12 sessions.
  • Children are seen over a period of 1 year in 10-12 sessions.

Depending on where you are in therapy, we meet about every 2-4 weeks for 30 minute sessions.

Where do we meet for therapy?

All sessions are completed over Skype from the comfort of your home, or wherever you happen to be in the world!

Will I be referred to other providers?

It is very possible. We are aiming for optimal wellness and this often requires a “team” approach. Most common referrals are for tongue-tie releases , enlarged tonsils/adenoid, sleep apnea/sleep studies, allergies, airway orthodontics, and speech.

If I need a tongue-tie release, how soon before should I begin therapy?

Those planning for a tongue-tie release should be prepared to begin therapy about 8 weeks prior to their release date. It is also IMPERATIVE to continue with therapy after a tongue-tie release to ensure that proper healing and strength are established.

What do I do once I am finished with therapy?

Your orofacial myofunctional journey doesn’t end with therapy. It is your job once therapy is complete to take the tools and skills you acquire and continue using them in your everyday life. You will learn through therapy that awareness and “checking in” with yourself are key components of your success. You go to the gym to maintain tone and strength in the larger muscle groups of your body, and your orofacial muscle groups deserve the same attention!
